Profiting from Artistic Talents

For as long as I can remember, I have been good at drawing.  From an early age, it was readily apparent that I was able to draw a lot better than my peers, and my parents encouraged me to develop my skills.  To them, I was their "little artist".

As I entered high school, I had the opportunity to take a graphics arts class that changed my life.  Our teacher had worked in industry as part of a professional logo design service, and he was responsible for the look of the many business logos that were in our town.

He encouraged me to pursue art as a career, and when I realized that I had a great eye for design, I knew that I had to follow my passion.

Now, years later, I still do what I love - drawing and creating art for businesses.  It is great that I was able to profit from my artistic talents.

Answering Phones

When my cousin started his own commercial cleaning company, he listed a couple of toll free numbers and he hired me to answer the phones for him. He said that it was not worth his time to be sitting by the phones and he wanted someone that would be reliable and professional to answer them.

I liked the job and I was glad that he was really good about working around my schedule. If I needed a day off, he was fine with that and I was glad to be able to make myself a little bit of spending money.

I told my parents that if they needed to get a hold of me while I was working, they could call the toll free number that I left for them. They often joked that I had found the perfect job, since I really liked to talk on the phone all the time anyway.

Packing the Truck

Since school has just finished, I found myself in need of a job.  I didn’t want to have some sort of boring job flipping burgers, I wanted to see the world.  So, when I saw an ad for carnival workers, I knew that I had found my calling.

I sent in my resume, and received a call a couple of days later.  One interview later, and I was employed by the carnival.

I underwent a week of training so that I would be familiar on how to setup and takedown all of the rides.  It turns out that it is a team effort, and everyone contributes.

It wasn’t until yesterday that I was assigned the job that I will be doing for the summer.  I am responsible for the obstacle courses and inflatable slides that we setup at each venue.  In fact, that is what I am about to do right now - go pack them into the truck.

Learning to Treat My Patients

As a general practitioner, I have a lot of patients that suffer from chronic pain Orange County. This is the reason that I decided to go to a seminar in New York al about chronic pain and some of the breakthroughs and treatments that have been discovered recently.

At the seminar, I learned a lot of useful information that I was going to be able to take back to my patients to try and help them to better cope with their pain and maybe even help some of them get rid of it altogether.

The latter was my biggest hope as I am sure that quite a few of them could get better with the right treatment and that my mission is solely to give my patients the best treatment possible. It ended up being a very valuable seminar and I have helped more than half of the patients that I am seeing for this reason.
