I decided to go down to the library today get a break from my house as well as have the opportunity to learn something new.  I am a firm believer that everyone needs to learn something new each day to have a more fulfilling life.

I had a great walk down to the library which was only a few blocks away from my home.  It was a nice sunny day and I believe it was the first time that I really spent a lot of time outside since winter.

At the library, I picked up a copy of the daily newspaper and began to read.  Though there were not very many interesting articles, there was one article that caught my eye.  I was about the high number of people requesting a California Medicare Supplement quote.  What was interesting about the article was the number of young people who were applying for this type of coverage.

I would have thought that most the people applying for Medicare Supplement would be baby boomers, but I guess I was wrong.  Like I said, it was a good day as I learned something new.

I have always been interested in different cultures and what life is like in their shoes.  I have had the opportunity to travel across the globe and visit many different places - but most of the time I live at home.

Just because I live at home, it doesn’t mean that I cannot stay in touch with the rest of the world.  I can read their newspapers that are written in any language thanks to an online translation service that I use.

Sure, the service costs me some money, but it is worth it.  I find that our local newspaper does not effectively capture the point of view of someone across the world.

But by reading translations of newspapers from the locale that I am interested in, I can get an up close and personal point of view.  And that is what I am looking for.

Today I had some time to read the paper while I ate breakfast.  Unfortunately with the busyness of my life, I don’t usually get that opportunity.  I would guess that I maybe have this opportunity once per month, so I thought I should take it.

Skimming through the paper, there wasn’t much that caught my eye.  I was interested in the new building permit issued to a major hotel chain to build in town because I know there are not enough hotels in out town.

There was also an interesting article about a Minnesota Criminal Lawyer defending a public official in a fraud case.  It was looking like the public official was going to get off, but it makes me sad at the number of times that these types of cases are occurring these days.  It makes you wonder how many honest people are honestly out there anymore.

Of course, my read ended with reading the comics in the paper.  I always get a laugh from reading them.  But, I should get going, I have a lot of work on my plate today.

Today, you can just hop on the internet and obtain all of the information that you could possibly need to know about the region that you are destined for. You can get charts, photos and graphs, as well as raw and historic data so that you can fully interpret what you are getting into when you agree to go stalking alligators in the Everglades. You can learn about the average highs and lows of an area so that you can pack the proper attire for your adventure, and you can even get a report before you take off on your trip so that you know if you will need your rain gear if you will ever make it out of your hotel room.

The weather forecast service of the area will likely be able to provide you this information, but when you jump onto the internet, you’re not getting a prerecorded weather report, you are getting an all inclusive weather forecast that is based on all of the information that you can access from the very same site. You can discover all of the historic data that you need to ensure that you are packed properly for your trip, you have current data so that you are prepared for the days coming, and you also have useful tips, such as UV rating and pollen count so that you can carry the proper preventative pharmaceuticals so that you don’t spend your entire vacation wondering why you didn’t just check it out before hand so that you were ready for all that you were in for. It really does pay off to be in the know, and it’s simple to find yourself in that state every day.
